Awakened From A Dirt Nap

November 15, 2020

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22

My seedtime came the moment I raised my right hand asking Jesus to reign in my heart. This seedtime minute arrived when I finally understood the entrance of Your words into my ears. Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans 10:17

My breakthrough moment came on November 13, 1999 at Primera Baptist Church. It came after hearing a powerful message that convinced me to ask Jesus into my heart. I was awakened from a dirt nap as the Pastor’s words entered my ears and galloped into my brain. My brain was like a dry sponge that expanded when the Living Water saturated it. As my brain capacity was enlarged, my forehead skin seemed to tug on my eyebrows opening my eyes wider so I could see the Sonlight. My seedtime came as my right hand went through the spiritual grave to get me out of the smothering darkness.

It was a miracle of transformation that happened instantly like the changing of water into wine or Lazarus being called out of the grave. It was awesome to get that taste of death out of my mouth and to wipe the mud off my eyes. Better yet, my soul proclaimed: “It is finished” as I was transformed into a New Creation. “The entrance of Your words give light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Psalm 119:130

There was a sweet aroma that surrounded me that special day. I was a seedling that had just sprouted into the light coming out from a parched, thirsty desert. The smell of the desert after some much-needed reign (rain) is incredible. It is hard to describe the scent of God … here is my best attempt. “The scent is like the voice of the desert praising with a parched sound that sends an aroma of gratitude to our Creator.” It is my favorite smell in the world. My favorite only gets better as my exposure to the Sonlight gave me increased strength. The scriptures were like the canals of Phoenix I swam in as a young man. Now, at age 47, the words from the Bible flowed like living water to nourish the root system of my heart. I am thankful because your verses kept my eyes wide awake through the night watches. My favorite verse soon became John 15:5: I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” I have continued to grow as I abide in the Sonlight for the Glory of God alone.

It is a blessing to have spent the past 21 years in the harvest of my New Life. It is awesome to be able to rise before the dawning of the morning and ask for Wisdom. The Bible says: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 Just two days ago, I meditated on the word “begotten”. You know, the word used in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” To man, the word begotten as defined in Webster’s dictionary, means something created. To me, in my spiritual understanding, the word begotten now means not created. The spiritual meaning of begotten is always was and always will be. I support my definition with this scripture, “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” John 1:1 So, my question to Mr. Webster is, “How can begotten mean something created when the Son of God always was and always will be?”

As believers, we know that God created us. This basic understanding is the foundation of our Faith. God is to be praised as the Creator, known by His marvelous order and beauty of His works. He has power to redeem, recreate and renew even those buried tightly in the darkness of the world. Our dependence on God is really a moment by moment existence that calls us to live lives of devotion and gratitude towards Him. We need to push ourselves through the grave and into His Light. It is our purpose to help harvest others into Heaven. It is our Seedtime and Harvest. Join me in calling out to Jesus. Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

It’s time to be awakened from the dirt nap - The Kingdom of God is near! Make it a Merry Christmas!
